Call Centre & Clerical grades pay talks

As you would be aware the various unions have been meeting with translink to discuss the 2009 pay agreement. A number of the other unions have already concluded paytalks. The offer put to TSSA was in line with the offer put forward and accepted by the other unions.

The detail of the pay offer is as follows:

Year one:
1.0% increase in pay on all rates of pay from 1st April 2009

Year two:
1.0% increase in pay or RPI increase less 0.25%, whichever is greater up to a maximum increase of 3%

for example: if RPI is 3.5% then the increase will be 3.0%
if RPI is 3.2% then the increase will be 2.95%
if RPI is 2.8% then the increase will be 2.55%
if RPI is 1.1% then the increase will be 1.0%
if RPI is -1.6% then the increase will be 1.0%

Your union raised various issues with Translink around better reward and recognition, sick leave, grading, flexitime, travel facilities and work life balance provisions.

Translink have agreed to reinstate the clerical consultative group to look into these issues with a view to finding agreement.

A postal ballot will be sent out to clerical members to be returned by Friday 6 November 2009 and ballots will be issued to members in the call centre to be returned to the ballot box provided by Friday 30 October 2009

The ballot will contain two questions:

1. do you accept the companies offer
2. are you prepared to take industrial action if not prepared to accept the companies offer.
