24 December 2009: Your union met with the Administrators Mazars this week to get some clarity on issues outstanding from the collapse of Budget Travel.
Mazars are getting legal advice regarding the status of claims lodged with the Labour Relations Commission before Budget Travel collapsed. The issue at stake is whether these claimants could be classed as preferential creditors. If this is not the case, the likelihood of success of any of these claims is none existent.
Mazars is also of the view that those in employment at the time of the company going into administration have no redundancy claims against Budget Travel.
We understand that this is a very difficult time for all. We are trying to get a response as quickly as possible from both from the administrator and the Labour Relations Commission.
We will keep all updated and informed as soon as any new information comes to hand.
